Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Winter Storm Warning

Warning Date: 2:47 PM CST on February 8, 2010

WarningSum:...Winter Storm Warning In Effect From 9 Pm This Evening To Noon
Cst Wednesday...

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect from 9 PM
this evening to noon CST Wednesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is
no longer in effect.
* Timing...light snow will develop across north central Illinois
from this afternoon into early this evening...and will continue
through Tuesday night. Blowing and drifting snow with near
blizzard conditions in open areas can be expected Tuesday night
  into early Wednesday.
* Accumulations...snowfall will generally be light to moderate in
intensity...however the very long duration of the snowfall will
result in storm total snowfall by late Tuesday night of 8 to 10
  inches.
* Hazards...in addition to the long duration accumulating
snowfall...northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with
gusts to 35 mph late Tuesday and will continue through Wednesday
morning resulting in significant blowing and drifting snow. The
potential exists for ground blizzard and near white out conditions
to develop in rural areas late Tuesday night into Wednesday
  morning.
* Impacts...travel is likely to be significantly hampered during
the snow storm tonight through Wednesday morning. Due to the
long duration of light to moderate snowfall even major roads and
highways may become snow covered. Blowing and drifting snow
Tuesday night into early Wednesday will result in near ground
blizzard conditions in outlying areas making travel extremely
  dangerous.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet...ice...or strong winds are expected or occurring. This will
make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must
travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
